This Victorian-era cottage is a two-story structure but the floor-plan was typically cramped and divided into tiny, often light-starved rooms. The new interior program opens up the rear onto a terrace while the new oak staircase ascends to a skylight, illuminating the core of the home. The monochromatic palette further enhances clarity, providing a sharp backdrop against which sculptural furniture and objects read as punctuation marks. Shiny, jewel-coloured tiling and touches of patinated brass add a touch of coloratura.
