With no possibility of structural intervention in this heritage-listed Melbourne building, the interior program is composed as a series of floating elements dispersed throughout the Italianate space. Plush rugs in bold shapes act as place-makers for sampling clothes and accessories; changing cabins are created from sensuous velvet drapes which cantilever from the wall like soft sculptures. The tall, arced mirror adds graphic punch at the same time as providing depth, while a wall of draped linen emphasises the soaring five-metre high ceiling.
