This tiny miner’s cottage in a hip inner city neighbourhood had been subjected to a clumsy renovation in the early 2000s. The client brief was to optimise the interior program wherever possible, to inject a sense of airiness even in the most light-starved rooms. Walls have been refreshed in delicate pastels that bounce back available light. Furniture and textiles in rich bijoux hues appear to glisten, absorbing luminosity as if aglow. Big, bold artworks encourage the eye to move around the space, creating a dynamic tension.
